Students in the Music and Audio Club have the goal to pour every bit of their hearts and souls into their instruments at every performance, and as many members prepare to finish their senior year, they hope to leave a lasting impression on UC High.
The club meets up every Tuesday at Room 231 to practice, and occasionally have lunchtime performances. The club has 38 members, and in a process in which President Senior Sophia Tamashiro noted, “All of the puzzle pieces have to fit perfectly together in order to make a performance happen.”
Vice President Senior Melody Thaviboune said, “I think the only thing making me slightly nervous is the fact that we’re having our last performance of the year, and I want to make it all worthwhile. I always want to do better, so the idea of redoing some old songs now makes me excited to show people how much we have improved as a club.”
As for the time spent practicing, Thaviboune said, “It takes a lot of effort, time, and coordination from everybody participating. Nonetheless, the satisfaction you get from all the problems that pop up working themselves out at the end is so worth it.”
Tamashiro said, “The best part of the club has been any instance of performance. Every time we would host a new performance, a surge of students that wanted to try playing came in and students requested new lists of songs. It always feels like we’re bringing the UC community together.”
As for future performances, Thaviboune noted, “We wanted to do one last performance with some reruns from our past performances. We are always going to perform in front of [Multimedia Teacher Brad] Liber’s room so look out for us if you can!”
