Top Ten Things Teens Want To Be When They Grow Up
As teens get closer and closer to college, they get the opportunity to start contemplating what they dream to do for the rest of their lives. While some teens may be responsible and have practical jobs in mind, other teens, who may have their heads stuck in the clouds, have dreams that may be a little less realistic. Here are just a few of the common careers that a lot of teens consider to be their dream jobs:
- Lawyer – Being teenagers in high school, kids like to question other’s authority and, although arguing with teachers and parents may not get them anywhere right now, they may have a natural talent for debate and defending their cases in the future as a pristine lawyer, not just some whiny, rebellious teen.
- Engineer- Many students interested in math and science (and even robotics) steer towards engineering as a career. The excitement of designing and testing new ideas and inventions does sound pretty cool.
- Psychologist- Do you help all of your friends deal with their problems? Some teens already feel like they are therapists! Or maybe you are curious as to why you are rebelling against your parents by at sneaking out of the house 3 a.m. Why not seek out answers through the study of the human mind and behavior.
- Doctor- Like every other person in this world, teens still desire what everyone else in the world wants: money. Or maybe they want to actually save people’s lives?
- Author- Of course there are teens who love writing but are sick and tired of writing what their English teachers want. They don’t want to write a ten-page essay analyzing the symbolism in To Kill a Mocking Bird. They want to create their own classic stories for their high school English teachers to teach someday.
- Business Manager- The teenagers that make snide remarks to the teachers, do whatever they want when they want, and think they know everything in life may surprise people with their confidence and openness. Although they might seem rude now, this confidence may be what it takes to be a successful leader and make it easier for them to create their own businesses and be in charge.
- Computer Careers- There is a place for everyone in the big world of employment, and especially for the geeks in high school who do nothing but play on their computers, there are lots of jobs out there that have to do with computers. There is everything from coding, to software design, to computer animation, to hardware. The possibilities are endless.
- Teacher- Despite how many kids hate school, there is actually a large amount of students in high school who admire their teachers. And there are even those who aspire to become teachers themselves. Good luck dealing with students like me.
- Professional Athlete- Even though many high school students have pushed aside the crazy dreams that no one thinks are possible, there is still the star quarterback who wants to be more than someone’s high school sweetheart, and who knows? Playing for a professional team is possible for a very few.
- Celebrity- Yes, these people exist, the people who have their minds set on their dreams, whether it is to be an actress or a singer. This person may be seen in high school as the crazy girl who everyone thinks is especially strange. However, you may want to take an advantage of becoming close with this person now, because it’s those weird qualities that may just draw the attention of massive crowds someday.
